October..???? What the hell?? – 10 October 2018
Well, apparently it is nearly half term already. Whilst I am very tired and very much looking forward to a break, it does feel as if I have only just gone back to school… There is a part of me that wakes up panicking that I have still got A LOT to get done with the little monkeys before they sit their entrance exams in January but we will get there.. we always do somehow…
Time feels like it is whizzing by and we seem to be rapidly careering towards the end of the year. This is the year that I decreed I was not going to take any more of the MS nonsense and that I was going to sort myself out, remember? So how is that going?
In summary I would say nothing has got any worse but I am not sure that anything has massively improved either. Which is sad. It has been expensive, tiring and time consuming. And I have covered a lot of miles in the process to the extent that the garage recently contacted me to ask me if I wanted to move onto their high mileage service plan so I didn’t need to bring that car in so frequently for servicing… Perhaps they have had enough of me…
So looking at each thing I have tried in turn….
Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy: Undertaken weekly. Cost £10. This definitely falls into the category of maintenance. It keeps me going and is necessary but it is never going to offer any big recovery rewards, I don’t think. Next steps: continue the long drive every week and keep fingers crossed for a lottery win so that I can install and run a tank at home. Along with one of those amazing small pools where you can swim against the flow of water. Love those.
Physio: Undertaken every other week. Cost £45. As above. Keeps me functioning and helps me manage the back pain. Hoping to drop these sessions to monthly as an ongoing maintenance plan…
Acupuncture: Weekly. £15. Early days with this as I have only just started weekly treatments but I think they are beneficial. I certainly feel very tired afterwards which I think can only be a good sign and I feel more balanced in the 2 days after in terms of weight distribution though my legs. Next steps: Continue with weekly treatments.
FMT: (Faecal Microbiota Transplantation. AKA: Poo Therapy) One off treatment for 10 days. Cost £4000. Apparently of no benefit that I can discern although this is mainly because of the infection I was harbouring in my mouth, according to Dr Helena. Apparently, while there was that much infection present in my body this treatment would have been pointless. Shame I didn’t know this beforehand but then I wouldn’t have known about the potential health implications of toxic dentistry had I not picked up the book about toxic dentistry in the poo clinic waiting room so… Next steps: I need to wait for the all clear from Dr Helena that I am free from further infection and then I can go back for my top-up, of which I have 3 implants banked. I may top this up with a further 2 so that I can have a full week’s course.
Dental work: Extraction of two root filled teeth and detox programme. Cost £1500. A further £5-6K will be required to fill the gap with non metallic, ceramic implants. Trying not to think about this at the moment… Whilst I am not yet where I want to be (which is where I was about 5 years ago!) I am fairly convinced that there have been positive outcomes of this treatment. How can there not be after removal of all that toxicity in the form of the infection? If nothing else, it has given me more confidence that there are other evils at work that can be dealt with. So we must continue the fight! Next Steps: I have a check up next month where I am hoping that that I will get the all clear that I am infection free. Then sell a kidney and fill the gap. Then go back for more poo therapy. I do have concerns that there may be something else going on on the other side of my upper jaw though which I am trying to ignore but… since the extraction and chewing exclusively on one side, another tooth has started to exhibit signs of extreme tenderness and sensitivity. Fingers crossed that it is just over use but I think I do have to consider and prepare myself for the fact that there might be further problems as yet uncovered. We are not out of the woods on this one yet, I don’t think…
Rhizolysis: Disconnection of the nerves to the facet joints to stop lower back pain. Cost: £4-5K. Thankfully paid for by medical insurance. Utterly pointless exercise except for the general anaesthetic and morphine fun. Next steps: Try and pretend it never happened and move the hell on.
Personal Training: Cost £30/hour, undertaken weekly. Now, this my new favourite potential saviour activity and after 3 sessions, I think there are slight improvements to be seen. The exercises are very targeted around the weakened muscles on the right side as well as building up the core. I can already feel a difference in the attempts of the affected muscles trying to fire and actually take an active role in the movements that they should be. After a couple more sessions, I will get a focused gym programme that I can do myself alongside the one-to one sessions. I think there is real potential for improvement here. Both in my ability to do things but also with alleviating the back pain which I am increasingly of the opinion is being caused by certain muscles having to compensate for those not working as they should be. Next steps: Continue weekly one-to-one sessions and join a gym so that I can do a secondary session independently.
Ongoing detox supplements: I am continuing to take the supplements recommended by Dr Helena in the build up to and following the dental work with the additional selenium. Until I can speak to her next month about going to see someone for a more intense heavy metal detox (which will be dependent on the outcome of the check up for the infection) I will continue to do so…
Reiki: Undertaking self-treatment sessions daily. Costs nothing which is a bonus. Who knows of the benefit but it will certainly not harm me and I do feel a lot calmer and a lot less prone to emotional overloads or general rant-iness. But that could just be wishful thinking on my part… I imagine my nearest and dearest may have different views on this..
So I haven’t quite fixed myself yet it seems which does not suit my impatient nature at all. However, we have not entirely exhausted all of these avenues quite yet so my quest will continue. Deep breath and positive thoughts and all that….
