The Background
I am 44, married and female. No Kids. I have had relapsing remitting MS for the best part of 20 years and on the whole, I have been doing ok. For the most part any symptoms or relapses I have suffered have been fairly minor. Whilst they have provided a constant reminder that I have MS, they have not actually affected how I live my life. Five years ago this changed and since then, I feel that I am making decisions about whether to do things based on whether I can, rather than whether I want to. This does not make me happy.
I decided that 2018 was the year that I was going to try everything and anything possible to improve my situation. In the first instance, by trying to fix the bits of me that are broken. Or alternatively by modifying my lifestyle such that I don’t feel I am constantly battling. It is exhausting and I don’t like feeling like this.
This blog is my attempt to share my journey from this point forward as I try various treatment routes in an attempt to stop or reverse the deterioration caused by MS that I have noticed in recent years. As well as it being a vehicle for allowing me to offload – even if no-one reads it. I am notoriously bad at talking about what is happening to me or how it makes me feel. At this point it is secret, I have not told anyone close to me that I am doing it. I have not yet decided what to do about this in the long term.
There is quite a lot of history to catch up on in terms of other measures I have taken, symptoms and my general condition but I am intending that this will get covered in the course of various updates…
The journey starts here….
