I should never have said anything…. 30 Jan 2019

No sooner had I logged off from the computer last week following my last update and guess what..??? My back started hurting and continued to bother me in much the same way as it has done previously. Bloody typical!!

I immediately blamed bad juju on this annoying turn of events as any logical and sensible person would (?!). I should not have broadcast to the world (and by this I mean the 4 people that read this) that there had been an improvement in my back. That was surely the reason for the turnaround.

Over the following few days, I tried to come up with a more rational explanation. What had I done that day that could have caused the, what seemed to be, quite sudden change? I didn’t like it but I kept coming back to the same thing… maybe it was the physio session I had had that day. Could the physio session have actually undone Ron’s good work somehow…? It didn’t seem to make sense, though…

I have been back to see Ron the acupuncturist today. I said “Whatever you did last week, please do it again. My back has been really good but now it isn’t again.” We discussed at length when I had felt the deterioration and the possible whys. He looked again at my sacrum ligaments and thought they had become loose again. He has repeated the crazy burny thing and some of the acupuncture points from the last session. He was reticent to repeat the entire treatment as apparently some of the points that he did on my torso are quite intense and not generally done too frequently. Ron thinks it is possible that the acupuncture that the physio did last week may have unintentionally relaxed the ligament that he worked to tighten. I am to request no needles at the next physio session. As has been previously documented I am a tiny bit scared of my physio. But if things do look up and my back situation improves tomorrow, it’ll have to be done….

In other news, Scott the PT has brought to my attention someone who practises a technique called ‘Be Activated’ locally. Some sort of neuromuscular activation system. The following is taken from the website: https://www.beactivateduk.com/
Be Activated is a manual technique that returns your body back to it’s natural physiology, resulting in immediate, measurable, and positive results that restore strength, power, flexibility, relaxation, and brings balance to both the body and mind.

Sounds bloody marvellous, doesn’t it? All to do with the diaphragm apparently and not breathing properly. I have spoken to the chap on the phone. He has worked with another MS sufferer who has noticed positive outcomes from just 2 sessions. He seemed very nice on the phone and I have made an appointment for next week. As I have said many times, I am prepared to explore all avenues. Could all be a load of hokum but it won’t hurt to look into it further. Although for £60/hour I will be making him work for his money!
