“I’m so excited about going to the dentist!” said no-one ever…. – 12 Aug 2019
But I actually AM excited about going to the dentist. And I bloody hate going to the dentist. This time I think it could really be it in terms of me feeling better.
I had two molars removed last year ( http://www.optimisticlu.co.uk/2018/07/25/broken-smile-25-july-2018/ ) on the grounds of them being root filled and therefore evil in toxic dentistry terms, Even worse than having root filled teeth was the discovery of a massive infection in the roof cavity of my mouth which had apparently been there for some time (possibly 15-20) years, compromising my immune system the whole time. The infection was dealt with and I duly expected a major turn around in terms of my health. This did not happen but I consoled myself with the knowledge that the nasty infection had gone which can only be a good thing in the long run.
One year later…. I returned for a CT scan to check that my jawbone had healed sufficiently for the implants to go in. The infection on the side where I had the teeth removed has cleared up beautifully but guess what…? There is ANOTHER huge infection on the other side! Infections of this nature don’t show up on x-rays, so again, it has probably been lurking there for some while. Something to do with the roots of my upper teeth being very close to my sinus membrane. Anyway, long story short, another tooth on the other side has to come out, and the infection cleaned out.

Initially I was devastated by this turn of events for a number of reasons. Namely, the requirement for more unpleasant dentist surgery, the cost plus having to eat baby food/smoothies for 4 months on the grounds of dwindling tooth stock until the implants can go back in. However, now I am seeing it as my new potential saviour and surely this is going to be the thing that finally allows me to start turning a corner and stop feeling crap. We will see… At the very least I get to have one of the amazing detox and vitamin intravenous infusions that will certainly make me feel better for a few days….
So that is why I am excited about going to the dentist. Not because I am looking forward to the procedure (nothing could be further from the truth there…) but because I am excited about the potential benefits to my health.
Anyway, I am off out for a pizza tonight as it’ll be a while before I can comfortably eat one of those again….
